My name is Jim Chaparro I am the Deputy Under Secretary in the Office of Intelligence & Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security. The Department of Homeland Security has some phenomenal missions. We work to coordinate across the federal community in times of disaster to save lives. I can't think of any other program that presents the opportunities to you like the NSI does. We are looking for people who have language skills, who can think outside the box, who are top performers, and who are really willing to roll up their sleeves and come to work with DHS.  It's easy for someone who's been in federal service for 20 years to take this as old hat but I love to see the people who come in energized and refreshed and really wanting to make a difference. The NSI will give you that opportunity. I can leave the office every day knowing that I have accomplished something to not only keep my family safe but to help keep my country safe. It's fun work, it's hard, but it's fun. I'm looking forward to getting some really high caliber NSI interns sitting in my office doing critical work. Your work here will matter.
